River Valley Ranch's serene Maryland horse trails will take you along the Gunpowder River and through the rolling hills and forests surrounding our private 500-acre property and adjacent local public horse trail networks.  Part of RVR's Maryland Horseback Riding programs, horse trail rides are a memorable & unique experience for groups of all sizes! RVR horse trail ride participants must be 10 or older and capable of controlling their own horse with instruction (Pony rides are available for younger riders).

Fairwinds give comforting, specific instruction and a confidence-building introductory ride in our ring for 15 minutes before going on the 45-minute trail ride through woods and fields.

Southern Grace Farm, a 52-acre horse farm conveniently located just off of Rt. 301 at 8950 Doctor Spencer Road, Bel Alton, MD 20611, in the beautiful and historic Southern Maryland.  The Johnny Boy's BBQ trail ride is approximately a 3 to 3 1/2 hour trail ride or a one hour guided trail ride around the farm.

Looking for a unique experience with horses?  Then you will enjoy their “doubles” rides where they only take two out on our trails at a time.  But this is not just any ordinary trail ride…..first they have you meet the horse you are going to ride.  Then they help you groom the horse so you can bond before stepping into the saddle.  After a short riding lesson then it's out on the trail for a relaxing, enjoyable, ride with one of thei experienced guides. This is not limited to just couples, any combination of “doubles” is fine.

Montgomery County:

Hunt View Riding Academy offers a trial riding experience unlike any other in the area. Hunt View Riding Academy counts with acres of privately owned fields and woods adjacent to Seneca Creek State Park. The farm counts with miles of wonderful trails. The trail riding staff are professional and experienced with a passion for trail riding and hoses. Trail Rides must be scheduled at least 2 days in advance. Trail Rides are given Mondays-Sundays at 10 am or 1 pm. 


Prince George's County:

Welcome to Piscataway Horse Farm! They offer horseback riding on an hour-long trail ride, walk-ins welcome from 10 am to 3 pm on Saturday and Sunday. No appointments available on weekends, first come first served. Call during the week to make an appointment. We only accept cash. Please wear comfortable loose clothing and close-toed shoes.

Trail Rides at Country Comfort Farm. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced rider, trail rides are fun! Bring your boots and your friends, and join us for a guided trail ride through our 70 acre farm.   Please note, you must have a shoe with a flat heel for safety reasons.  Sneakers are not safe for riding. Riding helmets are available.


Wicomico County:
Hoof Prints Horseback Trail Riding in the quiet wilderness of the Wicomico Forest.  Awesome horses for all levels.  Get your 'giddyup' on! Due to the high demand from our therapeutic riding community and because trail conditions are harsh during the summer months (heat, bugs, and dust), we will not be offering extended 2-hour adult trail rides in June through September (2021). We will resume trail riding in October (2021) through May (2022) when the weather is more desirable for humans and horses.
